Resume Of Life

I’ve been working on my resume the last few days, and while scanning a list of tips, I came across the statement, “don’t be afraid of white space.”

I certainly think that this phrase is important in resume-writing, but also believe it applies to life as well.

In trying to cram every last bit of information into our resumes, I think many of us are always afraid of that white space. We’re afraid of leaving something out. We’re afraid that what we’ve written is not enough.

Well, I’m here to advocate for that white space. Think of it as a nice trim to the awesome you.

Sometimes, blank is good. Blank doesn’t mean emptiness. Blank is potential, the space of endless possibilities, just waiting to be colored in. Don’t waste it with black text.
