I think the value and importance of teamwork is often underestimated.
And stamping the name “team” on a group is never enough.
At work, you aren’t a team without the same approach, goals, and mission.
In sports, you aren’t a team without the same playing philosophy and trust in teammates.
A good team has members that play off of each others’ strengths, aren’t afraid to express their opinions, and have fun.
Only as a team are you able to accomplish more than the sum of your parts.
Inspiration: When Life Gives You Lemons
A few weekends ago, four young girls were selling lemonade outside their home in Pontiac, Michigan, when they were robbed. The thief ran off with the girls’ Mickey Mouse jewelry box and $40 they had earned from their lemonade stand.
When word quickly spread, Good Samaritans from all across the country have offered donations to help the girls get their lemonade stand back up and running. They intend to open up shop again this coming weekend.
The four friends plan to donate most of the money raised to a local charity that supports children.
As the saying goes:
When life gives you lemons, and you make lemonade, and that lemonade gets stolen away, caring people will come from far and wide to help :)
The other day at work, I was making a call to a health clinic. I talked to a receptionist and was trying to arrange for the next available appointment time for a patient.
I was in for a musical surprise.
Here’s what I heard after I asked my question: “Checking the calendar… Waka Waka… Eh eh,” all in song! The receptionist was singing!
And of course, I knew the song (Waka Waka by Shakira) and brought it up. The receptionist told me how the song had been stuck in her head for a while. I said that I had it stuck in my head too and we shared a laugh.
Her singing felt so spontaneous and carefree, as if I wasn’t on the other side of the line. Made me chuckle and smile :)
