Of course, there will be change.
Lots of it, probably. Most of it for good, hopefully. And some of it, unexpected.
Where we’re going? I don’t know. But that’s the beauty of it. You can only find out by living.
In one of India’s poorest states, 12-year-old girl Bharti Kumari is teaching it forward.
Before and after school each day, she shares the knowledge she receives at school with 50 kids in her village who don’t have the same opportunity to go to school. These children stay home due to the need to help their parents earn a living.
Furthermore, Maoist insurgents have crippled the education infrastructure, destroying many of the schools nearby Bharti’s village.
Every morning and evening, Bharti offers English, Hindi, and math lessons to the neighborhood’s young children. “I have a long day. My school is from 10am to 3pm and I study late,” she says. “This is what I love doing. I enjoy teaching children their ABCs as well as the Hindi alphabets.”
Currently, over 10 million school-age children in India do not regularly attend school. But better opportunities to learn are on there way. Last April, the Indian government pledged £3.6 billion with the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, guaranteeing free schooling to all Indian children ages 6-14.
Bharti has already decided on her future career. “I definitely want to become a teacher when I grow up.”

I’m excited by all the potential that social media has to offer, especially what it can bring to the health industry. With all the talk about health problems in America, social media is an incredible tool that has yet to be fully harnessed by the sector. As our society becomes more and more linked with the social web, so will our health.
Social health has incredible mobility and the potential to shift the entire landscape of prevention and medicine as we know it. It’s already being used to help monitor and change human behaviors in weight management and pregnancy.
Social media has been shown to sustain participation in online health programs. Pretty soon, everyone will be able to get fit with Facebook.
Social media is still growing and it isn’t going to just go away. It’s going to find its way into other parts of society and zoom on by.
The social health revolution is here to stay.
I blog because it’s another avenue through which I can express my thoughts and feelings. I also think that words have tremendous power and writing is something I very much enjoy doing.
So what better thing than to combine the two.
