Turned 24 yesterday.

For some reason, I’m not fond of even-numbered birthdays. Not really sure why, but maybe cause it’s even, and I’m odd.

21, 23, 25, etc… just sound better to me.

23 was a good age though. Close enough to 21 and college, but old enough to be a respected, young adult professional.

24 doesn’t quite have the same ring. We’ll see though. I like change.

Just moved into a nice new apartment and starting to seriously think about what I want to do next.

Let’s see if this even-numbered year can win me over.

Rich versus Poor

Do you ever wonder what it’d be like if you were born to different parents? In a different country? With different opportunities? Being rich? Being poor?

I don’t know Korean, so I’m not sure what the true message of the video was, but it was powerful.

Either of those kids could’ve been me. Could’ve been you. And maybe it was.

It makes me feel lucky though, and to appreciate what I have.

Racing Against Time

I’m only about to turn 24 in a few weeks, but I feel like I’m already racing against time.

Life’s short. I’m scared that I’ll let my younger years pass by without taking it all in.

There’s so much I want to do, but now I see myself weighing upcoming life decisions pretty heavily: Stay or change jobs? Grad school? Where to live?

Big years coming up. Need to make it count.

Of course, life is life. Things come, things go. You roll with the punches.

There will be surprises, and honestly I’m excited for that! But the planner in me tries to lay it all out.

I want it all to just slow down a bit to let me catch up.

But if it’s a race it’ll be, I’m gonna run my heart out.

Good thing I like running.

Cheerios Commercial

Recently, Cheerios ran a commercial that featured a biracial family that caused some controversy.

Leave it up to kids to figure out what the fuss is all about:

Just think, these kids will be the next generation’s moms and dads! What a different world it’ll be!

Makes me excited to know that racism and outdated ideas will soon fade away…

It’s just a matter of time :)

Send Pizza

Hazel Hammersley is a 2-year old cancer patient currently staying at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles where she’s receiving chemotherapy treatment.

Her mother and grandmother helped her have some fun by decorating her room’s window with a sign saying: “SEND PIZZA RM 4112.”

A few days later, someone walking by took a picture and posted it online.

The photo spread fast and within minutes, someone sent a pizza to room 4112. Then another came in, and more and more.

Hazel received over 20 boxes of pizza, enough for every child on the floor to have a pizza party.

This story means a little more to me because at work, I specialize in software for the oncology area. It makes me happy to see some of the patients, especially the kiddos, be happy too.
