Midwest Nice
A lot of people talk about how nice everyone is in the Midwest and in my time here, I’ve definitely experienced and noticed it quite a bit.
But I heard a great example the other day that pretty much exemplified it.
Cautious after getting a ticket for running a red light, someone I know slammed on the brakes at a yellow light and was rear-ended by the driver behind her. My friend’s car didn’t sustain much damage, but the other person’s car didn’t fare so well.
So after they sorted out insurance and such, my friend sent the driver that rear-ended her a gift card a few days later because she felt bad.
From my perspective, this sounded absurd and I would probably never do the same thing.
But it was no big deal here.
