Washington, DC

2012 November 12

Was out on a work trip in Fairfax, Virginia, so thought I’d take advantage and…

I visited our nation’s capital for the first time this past weekend!

I tacked on an extra day before my business trip and explored the National Mall all day- saw the Capitol building, Smithsonian museums (Air and Space museum, Native American museum, Museum of natural history, Museum of American history), the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and Korean War Veterans Memorial.

It was amazing to see and take in all the history around me. To stand on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial overlooking the Washington Monument, where so many important events have happened, was my favorite. I could almost imagine Martin Luther King Jr. starting his speech “I have a dream…”

On the trip, I also got to see some good friends I hadn’t seen in a while :)

Last stop was eating at Good Stuff Eatery, the burger joint that the Obamas love! If you’re wondering, the Obama burger was delicious.
